“Don’t fucking scream at me! Look at you! With your fucking 48% body fat! And you, you scrawny little bastard! Fuck you guys!” – Breacher

Synopsis:
Members of an elite DEA task force find themselves being taken out one by one after they robbed a drug cartel safe house.

With Sabotage, Arnold hoped to prove that he still has it.  What exactly Arnold still has is not everybody’s cup of tea and just because he still has it doesn’t automatically make a movie good.

Arnold’s movement feels a little too stiff to be realistic for the role of a DEA team leader, especially as the team moves room to room through an apartment complex.  He just doesn’t look like he can duck out of the way of anyone shooting at him.  That said, I was glad to not have to listen to jokes about how old Arnold is for the entire movie as we have with many of his recent movies.

I’m rarely one to complain about a lack of character development but for some reason I really felt it in Sabotage.  The characters all have their own unique look, tattoos and apparent ability but each only really has one character trait… and for a lot of them it’s just angry.

It’s a solid cast, though, for this type of movie.  I’m sure one could argue the acting merits of some of them but I just found it fun to see Arnold, Josh Holloway and Harold Perrineau from Lost and Sam Worthington, Joe Manganiello and Terrance Howard, all in one movie.

The story is a jumbled mess.  I mean, it’s an easy enough story to follow along with but the scenes just don’t fit together to form a cohesive story.  David Ayer is dangerously close to this chaotic storytelling being his signature style of direction.

I’m beginning to wonder if we will get anymore classic Schwarzenegger roles.  We may just be in a time where the only Arnie movies we get are just OK at best.  Sabotage will certainly be remembered (if it’s remembered at all) as one of the worst of this post-Governator era we are in.
